  • June 15, 2009
To celebrate the official opening of Dunkin' Brands' 15,000th store worldwide, top executives served coffee, donuts and ice cream at the new Raleigh, N.C. location on Monday.

Dunkin' Brands CEO Nigel Travis, Dunkin' Donuts President and Chief Brand Officer Will Kussell and Baskin-Robbins Chief Brand Officer Srinivas Kumar served up the items at the new Dunkin/Baskin Express store for the special price of 15 cents.

NASCAR Sprint Cup driver Greg Biffle and North Carolina State head football coach Tom O'Brien also stopped by to serve customers, and Biffle awarded two customers with 15 months' worth of complimentary coffee and ice cream.

The company also announced a donation to Homes for Our Troops, which is building a specially adapted home for a severely injured veteran in Fayetteville, N.C., and a donation of 1,500 pounds of DD coffee to Give2TheTroops.

Actually, although the North Carolina store was designated as the official 15,000th for celebration purposes, it was one of 15 Dunkin' and Baskin restaurants opened around the world on Monday. All offered similar 15-cent promotions.

In addition, to salute the company's more than 60 years in business, coffee and donuts were served for 15 cents from 3 to 5 pm at the first Dunkin' store founded, on Southern Artery in Quincy, Mass. A sister Baskin location in Foxborough, Mass., served soft-serve ice cream for the same price during the same time frame. --Karlene Lukovitz
