Smucker Runs Second Annual Recipes Contest

  • August 26, 2009
J.M. Smucker is turning its "Spreading Smucker's Traditions" recipe and essay contest, launched last year, into an annual event.

To enter, consumers share an original family recipe that incorporates at least one-quarter cup of Smucker's jams, jellies, preserves or fruit butter and "the story behind how their recipe makes family celebrations special." The recipe must have been passed down for at least two generations and needs to include names of all family members involved in the sharing of the recipe.

The grand prize is a five-day, four-night family trip for eight to Walt Disney World.

Entries will be accepted until Oct. 12. Recipes will be selected and scored on taste, creativity, ease of preparation, appearance and nutritional balance, while the essays will be scored on relevance to theme, creative expression and clarity.

The five finalists will be posted on smuckers.com in early November for a national online vote (voters must be 18 or older). The winner will be announced in December.--Karlene Lukovitz
