The Fruit of the Loom Guys, AOL Running Man, Ronald McDonald, Subway's Jared, Smokey Bear and Captain Morgan are among the contenders vying for a permanent place on the Madison Avenue Advertising Walk
of Fame on Madison Avenue between 42nd and 50th streets.
Competing slogans include "Have It Your Way" (Burger King); "What Happens Here Stays Here" (City of Las Vegas); and "Just Do
It" (Nike). Past Walk of Fame inductees include Melts In Your Mouth, Not In Your Hand (M&M's), "A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste" (United Negro College Fund); and "Imagination at Work" (GE).
Winners are recognized via permanent street banners, thanks to a special arrangement with the Grand Central Partnership and Advertising Week. Americans can vote at www.advertisingweek.com/wof. The
winners will be inducted into the Walk of Fame during Advertising Week Sept. 21-25, and will gain a permanent position on the advertising industry's version of Hollywood and Vine -- Madison Avenue.
Public voting began on Aug. 21 and will end Sept. 18. The winners will then be announced during Advertising Week.
