Ringtone provider Vringo has partnered with Marvel Entertainment to distribute mobile videos and video ringtones based on Marvel properties including the animated versions of Wolverine and The X-Men.
The project lets fans create their own mobile clips at http://vringo.marvel.com/studio/ from its archive that also spans the
1960s-era animated series featuring The Incredible Hulk, Captain America, Ironman, Spiderman and Submariner. The theme songs from the Marvel cartoons can also be downloaded as ringtones.
Users
with Vringo app-compatible phones can also turn their clips into video ringtones and take advantage of technology that lets them choose which superhero (or villain) they want friends to see when they
call.
Given the success of other media tie-ins to Marvel properties, the new batch of mobile clips and ringtones from the company should prove to be popular items in Vringo's catalog. Vringo
will give each user a free Marvel video free and charge $2 for clips afterward. The company plans to add new Marvel content each month. --Mark Walsh
