The Verizon store at 134 W. 34th St. in New York is set to become ground zero for the launch of the Motorola Droid when it opens at midnight on Friday. The outlet will start selling Droids at midnight
and stay open until 2 a.m. for technophiles who can't wait to get their hands on the much-anticipated device that sells for $200 and boasts a new Google Maps GPS system and a 5-megapixel phone, among
other features.
No other Manhattan stores have confirmed joining in the midnight opening, but other Verizon shops around the country are expected to open as early as 7 a.m. When Verizon
launched the Storm last year it led to lines down the block at some of Verizon's Manhattan outlets, so the Droid should attract crowds at least as big. So, don't forget to bring your tent. --Mark

Shouldn't these people be "technophiles" - lovers of technology - instead of "technofiles" - organizers of it? :)
