Random House Audio is launching a promotion around Earth Day with “carshare� organizations in several cities that let people rent cars by the hour.

Starting on the 22nd Randon House will give carshare members free audiobooks at the microsite RandomHouseAudio.com/carshare. The company says carshare fleets will be stocked with CD mixes of audiobook clips from bestselling titles.

The carshares organizations are in San Francisco, Chicago, Minneapolis, St. Paul, Boulder, Denver, Buffalo, Ithaca, NY and Burlington, VT. Each will promote via via email blasts, social media, their websites, and contests, per Random House.

Random House Audio authors will host events at local bookstores in participating cities: Kelly Corrigan in Denver, CO April 6th, Elizabeth Berg in Chicago, IL on April 28th,Chris Bohjalian in Burlington, VT on April 20th, and Cory Doctorow in San Francisco, CA (date to come).
