Digg Cuts Another 10%

  • May 6, 2010

Social news site Digg today announced laying off another 10% of staff following a management shakeup last month in which company founder Kevin Rose replaced Jay Adelson as CEO. In a blog post Thursday, Rose explained the cuts as "one of the hardest decisions" the company has had to make but necessary for its ultimate success.

He also said the company was placing more emphasis on engineering and development efforts and continuing to hire in those areas. A redesigned version of Digg is expected to roll out soon. The company cut the same proportion of staff a year ago to help reach profitability but the site has continued to see U.S. traffic dwindle as competing social properties like Facebook and Twitter have surged past it. --Mark Walsh
