Coca-Cola and Dr Pepper Snapple Group announced yesterday that the former would distribute some of the latter's soft drinks in the U.S. and Canada. The deal is valued at about $715 million to Dr
Pepper.
The agreement has an initial term of 20 years and includes space for Dr Pepper and Diet Dr Pepper in Coke's new Freestyle fountain dispenser, Karen Robinson-Jacobs reports. The
self-serve fountains allow consumers to select from more than 100 soft drinks and Dr Pepper says it will invest up to $135 million to boost the Freestyle business.
Dr Pepper spokesman
Greg Artkop says the deal "solidifies Coke's support of the Dr Pepper trademark, returns control of certain brands to DPS and increases our fountain presence all across the country."
