Twitter Nabs Fox's Bain, Google's Hill

Adam Bain

It seems revenue has become a priority for Twitter. Adam Bain joins Twitter as the president of global revenue, leaving the position of president at Fox Audience Network, News Corp.'s ad network supporting MySpace and other properties.

Bain's experience supporting technology and ad networks may leave some wondering if Twitter also plans to launch an ad network. Advertisers like Virgin America and The Gap have taken advantage of Twitter's attempt to build a revenue model -- and have been pleasantly surprised by the results. Sponsored Tweets and @earlybird specials might serve as the foundation for many big advertising platforms and ad deals to come.

Previously, Bain served as Fox Interactive Media's original chief technology officer and helped spearhead acquisitions of MySpace, IGN, Photobucket and Scout Media. He began his News Corp. career running the technology and product divisions at FOXSports.com. Before that, he had several roles within the online news industry, including stints at latimes.com and cleveland.com.

In addition to Bain, Twitter also appointed Brent Hill, a veteran Google sales executive, as director of sales for the central U.S. Prior to joining Twitter, Hill served as the head of financial services in the Midwest for Google and as vice president of advertising services at FeedBurner, the feed management provider, until its acquisition by Google in 2007.

Prior to FeedBurner, Brent held executive positions with Classic Kids, OCA Ventures and Styleclick, a unit of Interactive Corp.
