DoubleClick Inc. isn't too worried that competitor 24/7 Real Media is offering new customers two months of free ad serving with its 24/7 Connect system. As DoubleClick CFO Bruce Dalziel told JP Morgan
investors yesterday, "They can offer discounts all they want, but they're selling below cost and it can't last." Dalziel added that DoubleClick still expected to reach profitability in 2002, even if
the brutal slowdown in advertising continues. "Even if we don't see revenue growth, we will be profitable in 2002," he said.
