AMC Expanding Movie Theater Dining Offerings

Ron Ruggless reports that AMC Entertainment is expanding food and beverage service to between 40 and 60 of its properties by next year. The chain, which has 380 cinemas worldwide, already has dine-in theaters at four other locations and opened another, a three-tiered dining program, in West Orange, N.J., this week.

The new theater has four auditoriums in the premium Cinema Suites option, offering seat-side service in luxury recliners. The menu includes $8.49 Bleu Cheese Chips and $17.99 Lobster Ravioli. Guests must be 21 or older. The five Fork & Screen auditoriums, with tabletop dining, serve items such as $7.99 Crab Rangoon Dip and $11.99 Thai Coconut Chicken Tenders. Guests must be 18 or older or accompanied by a parent or guardian. Finally, there's a MacGuffins bar-lounge.

"Guests love the choices of being able to go to a movie and get dinner and a drink," says spokesman Justin Scott. "They also like an adult-only environment."
