Yes Network Suing Time Warner Cable

  • August 29, 2003
According to Reuters, YES Network, the cable channel home to the New York Yankees baseball team, on Friday sued the cable unit of AOL Time Warner for breach of contract. The decision is the company's first legal response to Time Warner Cable's decision in July to allow its 11 million cable subscribers to opt out of paying for the YES channel. In a prepared statement, YES Network said Time Warner Cable "is in violation of its affiliation agreement with YES as a result of its recent action to negatively reposition YES Network." YES Network said it is seeking a permanent injunction prohibiting Time Warner Cable's actions, and plans to recoup damages and legal costs.
