Online Radio Listening Up For The Year

MeasureCast, Inc. announced that Virgin Radio, MUSICMATCH and Clear Channel Worldwide topped their respective Internet radio rankings for the week of October 14. Since January, the total time spent listening to on-line radio stations measured by MeasureCast is up 159%. The MeasureCast Internet Radio Listening Index dropped less than one-half of one percent during the previous week.

Demographic Highlights for the Week of Oct. 14 - 20

  • The peak listening day was Thursday, Oct. 17, with 18% of all on-line listening.
  • 79% of all on-line listening took place between 5 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific.
  • 12% of the week’s listening took place over the weekend.
  • 27% of Internet radio listeners were between the ages of 25 and 34; 57% were younger than 35; 29% were younger than 25; and 7% were older than 55.
  • 71% of listeners were men; 29% were women.
  • In the U.S., 32% of listeners resided in the South; 30% in the West, 20% in the Northeast, and 18% in the Midwest.
