NBC Stations Looking To Local News Co-Ops For Content

In order to fulfill the FCC order approving the Comcast-NBCU deal, the 10 NBC owned-and-operated stations are looking to partner with nonprofit news organizations, according to TVNews Check. These groups provide readymade segments featuring local investigative stories -- and their numbers are growing "as investigative reporters are losing commercial jobs (or don't like the terms they come with) and striking out on their own," writes Diana Marszalek.

Proponents of the trend hope TV stations owned by other networks will follow NBC. One such nonprofit news co-op, VoiceOfSanDiego.org, has been working with NBC station KNSD for several years. .
