Ivi Appeals Shut-Down Order

Online video distributor Ivi has appealed a judge's ruling ordering the company to immediately cease offering streams of TV shows. Ivi filed its notice of appeal with the 2nd Circuit on Tuesday.

The company is seeking to overturn an order by U.S. District Court Judge Naomi Reice Buchwald in New York, who issued an opinion last week rejecting Ivi's argument that it's a "cable system" and therefore entitled under federal copyright law to a mandatory license allowing it to stream TV shows.
