Michael Bürgi, long-time editor of
Mediaweek, will join Starcom MediaVest Group as head of global corporate communications, taking on a senior vice president's role. He reports to Global
CEO Laura Desmond and be part of SMG's Global Management Group. Bürgi is charged with overseeing internal and external communications involving all SMG brands, which include VivaKi. He takes over
from Jill Kelly, who has taken another post at parent Publicis Groupe.
"Michael brings to SMG 17 years of experience as an industry observer and watchdog," Desmond stated. "He has remarkable
perspective and knowledge of the competitive landscape." Bürgi was vice president of corporate communications at Canoe Ventures after leaving Mediaweek in 2010 after 17 years. --David
