Forget bars, bowling alleys and the West Side Highway. The best place to meet for a romantic dalliance is the supermarket. Wal-Mart's Asda chain in Great Britain thinks so, anyway. The company has
launched a dating website with UKDating, a popular dating site in the U.K. Instead of asking about hobbies, Asdadating.com matches partners based on shopping preferences. The company says it got the
idea from shopper polls showing that 71% of men and 64% of women are open to meeting someone of the opposite sex while they shop for food. Forty-one percent said they look into the shopping baskets of
others for clues to their marital status.
