Zuckerberg Talks Google+

What does Mark Zuckerberg think of Google's latest and boldest foray into the world of social networking? Mashable was curious, so it asked Facebook's head honcho during a video chat this week. In response, without referring to Google+ specifically, Zuck said he viewed the rise of social "as validation as to how the next five years are going to play out."

Meanwhile, in light of Google+'s group video chat feature, Mashable asked Zuck about the possibility of Facebook offering a similar service. His answer? The young mogul said he "wouldn't rule out anything," but, according to Mashable, argued that Web watchers shouldn't knock the value of one-on-one video chat, especially with a platform as large as Facebook. "He also used the opportunity to make it clear that the partnership with Skype has been going on for a long time, even before Tony Bates became the CEO of Skype," Mashable added.

More broadly, Zuck believes very strongly that the next five years are all about building apps on top of the social infrastructure, which he pioneered over the past five years. "Zuckerberg," Mashable note, "predicts that a lot of companies that haven't traditionally looked at social networking will be focused on integrating it into their apps."
