A-B InBev Sets Date For Bud Light Platinum

Bud Light Platinum from the beer labs of Anheuser-Busch InBev is a bit like the beer version of the technologically advanced engine. But instead of higher power with better fuel efficiency, the Budweiser product delivers more buzz with fewer calories than regular Budweiser. The product, which hits stores early next year, will have 6% alcohol by volume and 137 calories. Bud Light has 4.2% alcohol and 110 calories, while Budweiser has 5% alcohol and 145 calories.

Some beer enthusiasts online Wednesday suggested that Platinum is Anheuser-Busch's attempt to take advantage of growing interest in craft beers, whose popularity has also sparked a recent boom in American-style beer gardens. One blogger suggested the drink might be a "faux-spirit infused beer," such as Bud Light with a tequila flavor. In other words, beer and a chaser in one bottle.
