Is Sun Setting On Sun Life Naming Rights?

Sun Life Stadium, home to the NFL’s Miami Dolphins, University of Miami Hurricanes and the Discover Orange Bowl post-season college football game, may soon experience its eighth name change since in opened in 1987, including six in the past 15 years. Citing financial situations and operational logistics, the Toronto-based Sun Life insurance company said it would be closing two of its U.S. divisions and eliminating 800 jobs in the U.S., which could lead to a naming rights battle for the stadium that has hosted five Super Bowls and could be in line to host the historic Super Bowl L in 2016.
