PayPal Hits $4M In Mobile Payments

  • January 11, 2012

PayPal reports nearly $4 billion worth of mobile payments last year, a huge jump from $750 million in 2010, PayPal mobile vice president David Marcus told VentureBeat. In 2009, it rang up $141 million in mobile payments. He attributes the massive growth to an overall increase in mobile commerce. For example, PayPal is one of the most popular ways for Starbucks customers to top off their in-store credit via its app, as well as a big uptick in iPad-based e-commerce.
