Mobile Startup StrikeAd Gets $3 Million

  • January 12, 2012

Mobile ad startup StrikeAd has raised $3 million in a second round of funding from venture capital firm DFJ Esprit. London and New York-based StrikeAd said it will use the new financing to continue its international expansion. The company opened its New York office in 2011 and recently entered the Japanese market through a partnership with mediba Inc., a Tokyo-based advertising firm.

StrikeAd operates a mobile-specific demand-side platform (DSP) which it says gives advertisers real-time access to more than 30 billion page impressions per month via integrations with other mobile media exchanges. "The company is poised to benefit from rapid growth in the market for mobile advertising and the trend towards programmatic buying,” said Nic Brisbourne, a DFJ partner, in a statement.

Besides geographic expansion, StrikeAd will also use the additional capital to continue developing new capabilities such as cross-device targeting, according to StrikeAd CEO Alex Rahaman. The company’s initial investment came from Germany-based venture firm eValue.
