Sean Flanagan has been promoted to U.S. publisher of National Geographic magazine, the book he has served as associate publisher of the magazine since 2001. In his new role, Flanagan assumes all
responsibilities for the advertising sales and marketing of the English-language edition of National Geographic, a publication that enjoys a 6.6 million circulation worldwide. His appointment to this
newly created position was announced March 4 by Steve Giannetti, group publisher of National Geographic Magazines, and takes effect immediately. Before joining National Geographic in January 2001,
Flanagan served as eastern advertising director for Yahoo! Internet Life, Prevention and Playboy. Prior to those positions, Flanagan was U.S. publisher of Men’s Health.
