Even if it had flopped from a usability standpoint, The Daily would have received points for ambition. As the first-ever publication
specifically tailored for a single piece of hardware—the iPad, naturally—The Daily had overcome a raft of practical and technological hurdles even before readers cast their eyes upon
(and dragged their fingers across) it. That it proved a fun, occasionally challenging, everyday read rather than a techno-marvel novelty speaks volumes about the thought that went into its
development. iPod-wielding news junkies obviously don't lack for content options, so it's to The Daily's great credit that, by alternately creating and compiling, it has brewed a compelling
mix.
