Game apps are addictive enough to keep hardcore players glued to their devices through, say, a relative's retirement dinner, but until the
arrival of Electronic Arts' FIFA Soccer 12, few could trumpet the realism of their gameplay. Such was the impact of Soccer 12: it has almost nothing in common with those game apps that preceded it.
Between "franchise" functions (trades and player scouting), graphics (even on the small iPhone screen, it packs the visual punch of a console game), and techno-gizmos (iPhones can be used as a
controller to play the game on iPads), Soccer 12 represented a quantum leap.
