In the real world, weather phenomena are often visually striking. Alas, in the app world, most have been rendered flat and
lifeless; it's tough to convey the majesty of a thunderstorm or the intensity of a tornado with a dime-sized animated graphic. Beautiful Weather sought to change that, layering sound and
infographics atop the forecasting and reporting functions. Adding visual luster via cloud animations and a 3-D globe, Beautiful Weather delivered what its moniker promised and buttressed it with a
wealth of historical weather data. By comparison, the competition looks rainy and gray.
