Jim Lentz may be following in the footsteps of Jim Press. Toyota Motor Corp. is promoting the American sales executive and bringing in a Japanese executive with extensive U.S. experience to oversee
the Americas. Lentz, president and COO of Toyota Motor Sales USA, will become CEO, a position never before held by an American. Toyota appointed Shigeki Terashi president and chief operating officer
of the New York-based holding company, Toyota Motor North America, replacing Yoshimi Inaba, the company said Wednesday.
Press was the first foreigner appointed to Toyota's board in 2007, but
left a few months later to work at then-Chrysler Group LLC, while Cerberus Capital was briefly in charge of the Auburn Hills, Mich.-based automaker.
