Condé Nast Entertainment Group this week named Fred Santarpia as its new executive vice president and chief digital officer.
Santarpia most recently served as general manager of music video platform and entertainment company Vevo.
Set to start in early July, Santarpia will be responsible for developing and
managing the execution of the group’s digital channel business, along with its video distribution strategy across all Web-connected platforms and devices.
Recently recognized for its
strong digital content strategy, Condé Nast received 10 nominations -- more than any other company -- in the third annual American Society of Magazine Editors' National Magazine
Awards for Digital Media.
Domestically, Condé Nast currently operates 27 Web sites, and more than 50 apps for mobile and tablet devices. Earlier this year, Reddit, the Condé
Nast-owned social media service, broke the billion monthly page-view barrier -- up 300% since early 2011.
While not quite a hiring frenzy, Condé Nast Entertainment Group just
recently named Sahar Elhabashi as EVP and chief operating officer. Elhabashi was formerly an executive with Discovery Networks International and MTV.
As part of Vevo’s founding
leadership team, Santarpia headed operations, and was responsible for audience development and video syndication, as well as social media and marketing strategy and revenue operations. He also oversaw
Vevo’s original content and programming teams.
“Fred was a key executive and played an instrumental role in building Vevo,” Dawn Ostroff, president of Condé Nast
Entertainment Group, said Wednesday.
Prior to Vevo, Santarpia worked for Universal Music Group, where he held a variety of senior-level positions from 2002 through 2009 -- finally acting as
vice president of operations and finance, and global digital initiatives.
