Hot on the heels of Cricket’s announcement that it would be the first carrier to offer the iPhone in the pre-paid space, Virgin Mobile USA announced Thursday it would begin offering the device to consumers starting on Friday, June 29. While plans (which include unlimited text and data) will be available for as low as $30 a month ($35/month minus $5/month if using an automatic payment plan), the device itself will cost $649 for a 16 GB iPhone 4S or $549 for an 8 GB iPhone 4.
