The project will be the largest single rural broadband roll-out in Britain, and will mix public and private
investment. It is still subject to State Aid approval from European authorities, but should ultimately offer typical speeds of 80Mbps, and peaks of 330Mbps in some areas. Approximately one in five
Welsh households currently has very slow or no broadband, but the new contract is likely to drive this figure down to one in 50.
