Nielsen Media Research Thursday said that due to power outages caused by Hurricane Isabel, it was unable to produce ratings for the following markets for several mid-Atlantic and southern markets:
Washington, DC (for the dates of Sept. 18-22), Baltimore (Sept. 18-21), Raleigh-Durham (Sept 18-20) and Norfolk and Richmond (both for Sept. 18). Nielsen said it has made the "excluded" data for these
markets available to stations for their internal use only and cautioned that the "media and advertising community must understand that, any data released from these specific markets for these excluded
dates, does not meet Nielsen reportablity standards. These unstable data, therefore, should not be used for buying, selling and promotional purposes."
