Brian McGrory, a 23-year veteran of The Boston Globe,has been named editor of the newspaper. A Boston native, he will be charged with running the newsroom for The Boston
Globe and BostonGlobe.com. He reports to group publisher Christopher M. Mayer. McGrory has been a reporter and columnist for the paper. McGrory joined the Globe in 1989 as one of the first
reporters hired into the South Weekly section. In 2007, he was named deputy managing editor for local news. The Boston Globe is wholly owned by the New York Times Company.
