There's been a lot of talk about the prospect of new privacy laws, but John Montgomery, Chief Operating Officer of GroupM Interaction, predicts that lawmakers might be even more focused on passing new security laws. Every time reports surface about personal information going missing, "the regulators become more resolute to regulate -- and the consumers just don't trust us," he says.

DataXu's Lara Mehana adds that the sheer amount of data that's collected these days is driving an emphasis on security. People's "digital footprint is growing a tremendous speed," she says. "It's so much larger than it was before, it escalates why security is so much more important than before."
