Conde Nast Unveils Video Offerings, Promotes Wintour

Condé Nast had a busy week, with a veritable raft of new products and staffing news. On Wednesday, Condé Nast revealed that Anna Wintour, the iconic editor in chief of Vogue immortalized in “The Devil Wears Prada,” has been given yet another role with sweeping responsibilities -- artistic director for the entire company. Wintour will continue in her previous roles as EIC of Vogue and editorial director of Teen Vogue.

Also this week, Condé Nast Entertainment, the company’s new video division, unveiled its first online video offerings, with new video players for GQ and Glamour. The new players feature original lifestyle and fashion content, which will also be distributed across Web, IPTV, mobile and tablet channels.

Original content on the GQ channel includes The Ten, highlighting must-have items for men, Car Collectors, featuring celebrities and their cars, and Fighting Weight, devoted to fitness. The Glamour video content includes a Fashion Week Ride-Along with Cindi Leive; Elevator Makeovers, with quick beauty tips; and “Why Do Guys,” plumbing the mysteries of the male mind.  The Glamour and GQ branded series are being launched with exclusive sponsorship by Procter & Gamble, Microsoft and Mondelz International.



On the ad tech front, this week Condé Nast joined The New York Times Co.’s Ricochet, a digital platform that allows advertisers to pair their ads with specific pieces of editorial content for sharing via social media, email, and other channels.  

Separately, Macy’s is launching a new fashion line for young women called Teen Vogue through a licensing deal with Condé Nast, which publishes the magazine. According to Women’s Wear Daily (which is also owned by Advance Publications), the fashion line was developed by Macy’s in collaboration with editors from the magazine.

Garden Design Closes

Garden Design has been closed by Bonnier Corp., effective March 13, Min Online reported. Bonnier cited the uncertain economic climate, the shift to digital media, and a tough advertising environment as reasons for the closure. The Web site and Facebook page will also be closed, effective June 1. The magazine originally launched in April 1994. It was sold to World Publications in 2000, which in turn was acquired by Bonnier in 2006.

Prevention Partners With

Prevention is joining forces with, an e-commerce hub for natural and organic food. The partnership allows visitors to to navigate easily to, where they can use its Qualities platform to find non-perishable items selected by Prevention as the “Cleanest Packaged Foods of 2013.”

They can also shop for other food items by browsing and searching in categories including “Fair Trade,” “Vegan,” “Paleo Diet Friendly,” “Locally Sourced,” and “Organic.” has created a customized Prevention landing page for users to find details about awarded products and get them delivered.

De Medeiros Leaves Men’s Fitness

Michael De Medeiros has stepped down as vice president and editor in chief of Men’s Fitness, according to American Media Inc. The New York Post reports that the search for a successor will be led by David Zinczenko, previously editor in chief of Men’s Health, who recently joined AMI as a consulting editorial director. Among other projects, Zinczenko will help AMI -- which also publishes Fit Pregnancy, Natural Health and Shape -- develop its branded book-publishing business. While EIC of Men’s Health, Zinczenko launched several well-known lines of diet and fitness-related books, including “Eat This, Not That!”

Ross To BHG East Cost Producer, Editor

Eddie Ross has been named East Coast produce/editor for print and digital at Better Homes and Gardens, Meredith Corp. announced this week. In his new role, Ross will produce home, decorating, DIY, and entertaining stories for print, digital and video. Previously, Ross served as editorial director at Rue La La, where he produced content for online, mobile, and tablet. He has also been a design, decorating, and food editor for Martha Stewart Living, House Beautiful and the Food Network, and has appeared in TV specials for Martha Stewart, HGTV and Bravo.
