The Local East Village, a  hyperlocal blog written by New York University journalism students formerly distributed on the New York Times website, was discontinued, but will be picked up by New York magazine. The blog, renamed Bedford + Bowery to mark the addition of Brooklyn coverage, will begin publication later this spring.

And while  NYU's J-School cultivates digital relationships, Columbia J-School's new dean, Steve Coll, who "has never tweeted in his life," is an example of Columbia's "failure to modernize and meet the market," which "is a type of professional malfeasance or academic scandal," Michael Wolff claims in USA Today.
