OpenX has today announced the hirings of Nicholas Cumins as senior vice president of products and Manoj Goyal as senior vice president of engineering. Both positions are new at OpenX,
and both Cumins and Goyal will report to Tim Cadogan, the company's CEO.
RTM Daily spoke with Cadogan, Cumins, and Goyal about the new positions and why OpenX felt the need to create those
specific roles. Cadogan said that as advertising technology grows up, it is "becoming more industrial in its scale and scope." To respond, OpenX has created these two roles and filled them with Cumins
and Goyal to attempt a merge between ad tech and enterprise software.
In trying to match the industrial nature of the market, as Cadogan put it, OpenX had to look outside of the ad tech industry to find Cumins and Goyal. Cumins previously worked as an executive at SAP, and Goyal served as an executive at Hewlett Packard. "We speficially wanted to find people from the broader enterprise software tech space. We felt we would gain more by bringing in a broad set of experience rather than only looking within the industry," Cadogan said.
"I'm excited about
joining OpenX," Goyal told RTM Daily. "We talk about mobile, Big Data, analytics, etc., and OpenX is using all of it." Cumins added that, as a person who worked in enterprise software and would look
at ad tech from the outside, he finds the space "amazing," citing the creativity behind it all, the overall ad experience and how it has changed, and the constant need to support different screen
types and sizes.
