WPP Group chief Martin Sorrell has held conversations with French corporate raider Vincent Bollore about the fate of rival agency holding company Havas, according to an interview given with British
newspaper
The Guardian. "We have been in touch," Sorrell told the paper in a story published on Friday, referring to Bollore, an influential Havas shareholder who owns a 14 percent stake in the
company and has been angling for more control over its board. Havas, the parent of MPG, recently competed with WPP Group to acquire Grey Global Group. WPP succeeded and is expected to close on that
deal later this year or early next year.
