Linux Developer Buys Netscape Server Software Products From Time Warner

Linux seller Red Hat Thursday acquired Netscape's server software products from Time Warner for $20.5 million in cash, the companies said. According to a CNET report, Red Hat will release the Netscape Enterprise Suite as open-source software, which effectively means that anyone will be able to use, modify, and redistribute the products. Red Hat said the new software will give the company a competitive position in both the enterprise and government markets, and will help raise demand for its core product, the open-source Linux operating system.
