New Nielsen Marketing Chief Helped Schwarzenegger Live Up To Promise, 'I'll Be Back'


Katie Burke, a marketing and PR executive who previously served as communications director of Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s reelection campaign in California, has joined Nielsen as executive vice president marketing and communications.

Burke, who will report to new Nielsen CEO Mitch Barns, joins from privately held PR firm Edelman, where she serviced a number of high-profile accounts, including Nielsen, McGraw-Hill Financial and Western Union.

Katie Burke is global chair of Edelman’s Public Affairs practice. She is one of the firm’s top CEO and C-Suite strategists, serving clients including McGraw-Hill Financial, Nielsen and Western Union. She most recently served as global chair of Edelman’s public affairs practice and was previously the PR firms chief of staff.

Before joining Edelman, Katie served as communications director for Rudy Giuliani’s presidential campaign as well as Schwarzenegger’s reelection campaign. She previously served as director of television news in the White House and was a senior spokeswoman and director of broadcast media for the Republican National Committee.

Burke, who will be based in Nielsen’s Wilton, CT office, will have global responsibility for the company’s marketing and communications -- including internal and external communications, content development, digital marketing, industry relations and events.
