British Columbia Government Office Shuts Down Email Servers Infected by Spam

The government in British Columbia, Canada has shut down its servers after a virus caused by email spam has infected the organization's email servers. Bette-Jo Hughes, chief information officer at the Ministry of Technology, Innovation and Citizens' Services, revealed that a malicious file attachment was the culprit. "Government takes this matter very seriously," she said in a statement. "As a precaution, we have temporarily disabled our email servers while we work with our vendors to resolve the issue."
