Persado Raises $21M For 'Marketing Language' Engine

Persado, a “marketing language engine” that uses algorithms to generate copy, on Thursday announced it has raised $21 million in a Series B round of funding led by StarVest Partners. Other participants include new investors Citi Ventures and American Express Ventures, and existing investor Bain Capital Ventures.

Per a release, Persado intends to use the funding for sales, marketing and product development for its platform, which it claims “uses computers to automate the creation of the most persuasive language used in digital marketing and other applications.”

Citi, one of the investors, said it began using Persado’s technology for its credit card business and has since seen its email open rates increase by 70% and click-to-open rates increase by 114%.

Additionally, Persado has added two members to its board of directors, per a release: Reggie Bradford, SVP of product development at Oracle; and Laura Sachar, general partner and founder of StarVest Partners.
