Both Wendy’s and Dairy Queen have recently opened new research labs to figure out new ways to appeal to younger consumers. The new Wendy’s lab, the 90° Lab, focuses on mobile ordering, mobile payment, and special mobile offers via a new loyalty program. Dairy Queen’s DQ Bakes! Institute, is food centered, with a goal of growing a menu around higher-quality products, like artisan sandwiches, hot desserts, and snack melts.
