Knob Creek, Airbnb In Silent Auction For Distillery Campout

Knob Creek Bourbon is holding a silent auction on Airbnb to promote its second annual campout on the woodsy grounds of its distillery in Clermont, Ky., on Sept. 25-27.

The fan who makes the winning bid between now and Aug. 25 on the dedicated Airbnb page will get to stay (with a guest, if so desired) in a "custom, one-of-a-kind" Airbnb-sponsored tent at the event, and enjoy the beverages, meals and activities with other bourbon-loving campers.

The full amount of the winning bid will be donated to the hunger-fighting not-for-profit Share Our Strength.

For those who aren't bourbon fanatics, staying in a nice tent might not sound like much of a prize (the winner even has to pay for transportation, except for a shuttle between the airport and the distillery).

But the demand for the first campout event last year far exceeded the available spaces for attendees, according to the brand's site. In fact, this year, fans who wanted to attend had to sign up on Knob Creek's site; the brand then did a random drawing to determine who got to buy tickets (maximum two per person) — at $300 per ticket. That includes accommodation in a two-person tent, food and beverages and activities.

The doings at this year's event will include tastings of Knob Creek bourbon, a tour of the distillery rackhouse, an "old-fashioned" cocktail lesson, campfire stories told by Knob Creek master distiller Fred Noe, fishing in Noe's favorite fishing hole, and a meal cooked by celebrity chef Michael Symon.
