A&E Channels Sign Up For Internet VOD Service

  • January 5, 2005
For all those who want to watch "Growing Up Gotti" whenever they choose, A&E Television Networks has agreed to provide programming to Akimbo Systems for the latter's Internet-delivered video on demand service.

AETN will be offering content from three channels - A&E, The History Channel, and The Biography Channel - on the recently launched Akimbo Service.

Akimbo will feature a wide variety of programs and include monthly updates from each of the channels, according to Genea Sobel, a spokeswoman for Akimbo, which is based in San Mateo, Calif. The programming will build an archive of some of AETN's various series, including "American Justice," "Cold Case Files," and "Biography," among others.

Additionally, Akimbo has lined up several of the network's new series, like "Airline" and "Dog the Bounty Hunter"--and yes--"Growing Up Gotti." --DK

Akimbo's "Queue and View" feature lets consumers select programs for download to the Akimbo Player through a broadband-Internet connection, and view them on their televisions. The Akimbo Service works with the Akimbo Player, a set-top box that can store up to 200 hours of video.
