Maybe it's the new year's version of spring cleaning, but Discovery Networks has made a number of promotions this month, most notably affecting its TLC franchise.
On Wednesday, the cable
entertainment network named Sean Gallagher vice president, development for TLC. Gallagher joins TLC from the Discovery Channel, where he most recently served as vice president, program development.
And on Tuesday, the company announced that Derek Koenig chose to leave his position as vice president of brand advertising at America Online to oversee marketing for TLC.
"It's just a
coincidence," a Discovery spokeswoman said.
In any case, Gallagher's new role will involve all internal and external program development efforts for TLC. He will also serve as a member of the
network's senior team, contributing to the strategic direction of the channel.
At the Discovery Channel, Gallagher led the network's development efforts, with specific responsibility for the
development and management of the Monster franchise, including "Monster Garage" and "Monster House." Also at Discovery, Gallagher served as executive producer of the network's prime time unit, where
he worked on notable projects such as "American Chopper" and "MythBusters."
