Stringer Becomes One-And-Only, Heads Sony

British-born Howard Stringer has been named the first non-Japanese to run Sony, replacing Nobuyuki Idei as head of the troubled consumer electronics and entertainment conglomerate. Stringer who has been head of Sony Corp. of America and vice chairman in charge of its entertainment operations, had previously been a top executive at CBS. -- JM
