Asian-language broadcaster KTSF-TV, San Francisco, has signed up to use Nielsen Media Research's local people meter data in the local TV market. The announcement, made Monday morning by Nielsen, is
interesting because opponents of Nielsen's local people meter system claim it undercounts viewing by minorities. In fact, an audit conducted last year by the Media Rating Council did find that
Nielsen's local people meter sample did underrepresent Asian Americans. Asian households account for 19.6 percent of Nielsen's sample in San Francisco. --J.M.
