Telemundo COO Browne Promoted to President

  • April 7, 2005
Don Browne, the COO of Telemundo, will succeed Jim McNamara as president of the Hispanic network, a spokesman for parent company NBC-Universal said Wednesday.

Before joining Telemundo, Browne--who had been in the COO post since May 2003--was president and general manager of NBC's owned-and-operated station in Miami, WTVJ-Channel 6. At WTVJ, he was in charge of integrating NBC and Telemundo. Before that, he was executive vice president of "NBC News." From 1979 to 1989, he was NBC's Miami bureau chief, directing news coverage of Central and South America.

McNamara, who was raised in Panama, was said to have left Telemundo to "pursue outside production interests." --D.K.
