“Muse Image” -- the first image-generation model stemming from Meta’s
Superintelligence Labs division -- will soon be integrated into the tech giant’s AI-powered creative ad suite, Advantage+, providing advertisers with the chance to automate promotions via
enhanced AI tech.
According to Meta's announcement, Muse Image is able to understand complex creative briefs beyond individual keywords via “native reasoning,” likened to how a human
designer would assess adding creative to a promotion.
The image generator is trained to restyle brands’ ad images based on their existing promotions across Meta's social media platforms,
while also delivering still images from advertisers' video promotions.
Along with its upcoming integration into Advantage+, Meta is now using Muse Image to help brands sell products via its
Meta AI Shopping mode, inviting consumers to ask the assistant to “reimagine” their room.

“When someone uploads a photo of their space, Meta AI restyles it with real products
from businesses’ product catalogs – showing how each item looks in their actual room,” the company's announcement notes. “They can compare options, keep the conversation going
to refine the look, or tap through to shop directly on a brand’s website.”
While some ad partners have offered positive reviews of Muse Image's creative ad output, many users who
are experimenting with the image generator on the Meta AI app, as well as Instagram Stories and WhatsApp, have raised potential privacy concerns.
As noted in a recent TechCrunch report, Muse Image allows users to manipulate any public Instagram users' images with AI, with the ability to
tag the person without asking permission. Users being personified in these generated photos “will not be notified about content created using AI features at Meta,” according to company
policy.
Meta responded to the report, explaining that users can disable this capability in Settings.
Muse Image is the most recent addition to Meta’s ongoing AI-powered product
output, following a standalone “gizmo” generator app called Pocket, the Meta AI app, an AI-powered companion app for Facebook creators, and a long list of Advantage+
ad features.
Overall, Meta says that over 8 million advertisers are currently using at least one of its generative AI creative tools.
