Real Simple’s new executive editor, Sara Austin, comes on board today. She replaces Sarah Collins, who left the brand last fall when Leslie Yazel was appointed the magazine's third editor in chief.

The lifestyle magazine also has a new design director, Danielle Jones, who replaces Abbey Kuster-Prokel. Jones has held roles at Dr. Oz the Good Life magazine and Glamour.

Photo director Casey Stenger and fashion director Victoria Sanchez-Lincoln have also left Real Simple. A Time Inc. spokesperson told Publishers Daily there is no update regarding their replacements.

Austin was previously senior deputy editor of Cosmopolitan, where she directed coverage of careers, health and news. Prior to joining Cosmopolitan in 2012, she was features director of Self and senior news editor at Marie Claire.

Yazel previously worked at Cosmopolitan, as director of editorial content.

In August, longtime editor-in-chief of Real Simple Kristin van Ogtrop announced she was leaving after 13 years at the title. Collins filled in as interim editor, but left after Yazel's arrival.

At the time, Yazel told Adweek this was an “exciting and transformative time” for Real Simple and she hopes to take “advantage of all our platforms to expand the brand’s passionate and dedicated audience.”

She added that going forward, the brand will push even more into digital.
